Who is Lord Vighnaraj?
Lord Vighnaraj is known as the seventh and most glorious incarnation of Lord Ganesha in the Ashta Vinayaka Avatars. According to the Mudgala Purana, this form represents "Vishnu-Brahma". "Vighnaraj" means the Lord of Obstacles and the controller of all obstacles. This form of Lord Ganesha shows that all the obstacles, trials and obstacles that arise in the universe are ultimately a part of the divine plan.
In this avatar, Lord Vighnaraj's vehicle is considered to be Sheshnag, which is a symbol of infinite power, stability and the support of the universe. Lord Vighnaraj re-established religion by removing the ego of the demon named Mamatasura. Mamatasur is a symbol of the feeling of "Mamta" or "Mine-Mine" in human life, which leads a person to attachment, ego and selfishness.
Origin of Mamatasur
After the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, on one occasion, Goddess Parvati was laughing and joking with her friends. From her divine laughter, a very bright and powerful man appeared. He bowed down to Goddess Parvati and asked about his duty. Then Goddess Parvati said that he was born out of her respect and affection, hence his name would be "Mam" or "Mamasur".
Mother Parvati advised him to remember and worship Lord Ganesha. Along with this, she also gave him the sacred six-syllable mantra of Ganesha "Vakratundai Hoon". Taking orders from his mother, Mamatasur set off towards the forest for penance.
Shambrasur and Demonic Knowledge
In the forest, Mamatasur met a famous demon named Shambarasura. Shambarasura recognized his potential and taught him many secret demonic knowledges. By studying these knowledges, Mamatasur became extremely powerful and possessed the power of transformation.
When his education was complete, Shambarasura advised him to perform severe penance to Lord Vighnaraj. He explained that only by pleasing Lord Ganesha could one attain invincible power and the kingdom of the universe.
The Penance of Lord Vighnaraj
According to the teachings of Shambarasura, Mamatasura performed severe penance for thousands of years by consuming only air. Pleased with his steadfast devotion, Lord Ganesha appeared before him. The Lord asked him to ask for a boon.
Mamatasura asked for the kingdom of the universe, undefeated power, infallible weapons and immortality. The devotee Lord Ganesha was pleased with his penance and granted him this boon. After that, the demon guru Shukracharya established him as the king of demons.
The Empire of Mamatasura
Mamatasura first conquered the earth and the netherworld with his huge demon army. Then he invaded the heavens. Due to the influence of Lord Ganesha's boon, even the gods could not resist him. Gradually, the entire Trilok came under his control.
During the reign of Mamatasura, the prevalence of unrighteousness, unrighteousness and injustice started increasing. The gods were imprisoned, obstacles started coming in the sacrifices of the sages and the observance of religion decreased. In place of truth and righteousness, ego and selfishness prevailed.
Prayer of the gods
As the situation became extremely serious, Lord Vishnu advised the gods to worship Lord Vighnaraj. All the gods performed continuous devotion and worship for a year through the one-syllable Ganesh mantra.
Finally, on the holy day of Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi, Lord Vighnaraj appeared before the gods at noon. The gods expressed their pain and prayed for freedom from the terror of Mamatasur. Lord Vighnaraj assured them of the restoration of religion.
Naradji's sermon
When Mamatasur came to know about the arrival of Lord Vighnaraj, he became extremely angry. At that time, the sage Narada came to his court. He explained that all the power he had received was the result of the grace of Lord Ganesha. Therefore, opposing the Lord was like inviting his own destruction.
The demon guru Shukracharya also advised Mamatasur to accept the surrender of Lord Vighnaraj. But due to his ego, Mamatasur did not listen to anyone and chose the path of war.
Lord Vighnaraj and Mamatasur's Confrontation
Mamatasur set out for war with his vast army and sons. Lord Vighnaraj was enraged by his wickedness. He released a divine lotus from his lotus flower. The fragrance of that lotus was so powerful that his entire army, including Mamatasur, became weak and fainted.
When Mamatasur came to his senses, he realized that no one could withstand the divine power of Lord Vighnaraj. He immediately surrendered at the feet of the Lord and asked for forgiveness for his mistakes.
Lord Vighnaraj's Teaching
Lord Vighnaraj forgave Mamatasur and asked him to stay in his place and worship him. He explained that where God is not remembered and worshipped, the influence of attachment, attachment and ego increases. But those who follow the path of devotion and religion, God Himself protects them.
After this teaching of God, Mamatasur freed all the gods and abandoned opposition to religion and adopted a peaceful life. After this, religion, justice and righteousness were re-established in the entire universe.
