About Mata Shailputri
Maa Shailputri is considered the first form of Nava Durga and is worshipped on the first day of Navratri. The word “Shailputri” means the daughter of the mountain king Himalayas. Mata Shailputri is considered to be a form of Mata Parvati and is considered a symbol of power, purity and spiritual awakening.

Mother Shailputri Story
According to Hindu mythology, Mother Shailputri was Sati, the daughter of Prajapati Daksha in her previous birth. Sati was the wife of Lord Shiva, but Prajapati Daksha did not like Lord Shiva. Once Daksha organized a huge yagna, but did not invite Lord Shiva and Sati to it. However, Sati went to her father's yagna, where she was extremely saddened by the insult to Lord Shiva and gave up her body in the yagna kund. After that, she was born as a daughter in the house of the mountain king Himalaya and became famous as "Shailputri". In this form, she performed severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband again. This story of Mother Shailputri is considered a symbol of devotion, dedication and spiritual power.
Form of Mata Shailputri
Maa Shailputri is depicted riding a bull (Vrishabha). She holds a trident in her right hand and a lotus flower in her left hand. Her form is considered a symbol of peace, power and divinity.
This form of Mata Shailputri inspires devotees to maintain patience and stability in life. In Hinduism, she is worshipped as the first and most important form of Nava Durga.
Religious significance of Mata Shailputri
In Hinduism, Mata Shailputri is associated with the moon and the Muladhara chakra. It is believed that worshipping her gives spiritual strength and mental balance.
