Introduction to Goddess Dhan Lakshmi

Origin of Goddess Dhan Lakshmi
It is narrated in the Puranas that once there was a discussion between Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi about the importance of wealth. Goddess Lakshmi left Vaikuntha and started living on earth in human form. Lord Vishnu was distressed by the separation of the Goddess and came to earth in search of her. There he started living as a poor forest dweller.
After some time, Lord Vishnu met Goddess Lakshmi, but they did not have enough money to get married. Therefore, Lord Vishnu took a loan from Kubera, the god of wealth. Even for a long time, he could not repay that loan. Finally, Lord Vishnu understood that wealth also has a special role in life. Goddess Dhana Lakshmi then blessed Lord Vishnu with prosperity and he again moved forward to a life of luxury.
Form of Dhana Lakshmi
Goddess Dhana Lakshmi is depicted in a very bright and luxurious form. She is usually seen adorned with red clothes and golden ornaments. The divine form of the goddess is considered to be a symbol of happiness, peace and prosperity in the lives of devotees.
Dhana Lakshmi is depicted as a six-armed goddess. In her hands, she holds a conch shell, a Sudarshan Chakra, a lotus, a bow and arrow and a kalash filled with nectar. One of the goddess's hands is in the Abhaya Mudra and is shown continuously raining golden mudras from it, which symbolizes inexhaustible wealth and prosperity.
