Introduction to Lord Brahma
In Hinduism, Lord Brahma is considered the creator of the universe. According to the Puranas, Param Brahma assumed three main forms to manage the universe — Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. In it, Lord Brahma's work is to create the entire universe. He is also known as Jagatpita and Prajapati. One of the names of Brahma is also Hiranyagarbha, because the entire universe is believed to have originated from him.
Origin of Brahma
According to the Puranas, Lord Brahma appeared from the divine lotus that appeared from the navel of Shri Hari Vishnu. When Lord Vishnu was in yoga nidra, a divine lotus appeared from his navel and Brahma appeared on that lotus. He performed severe penance to know the secret of his origin. After that, Lord Vishnu appeared to him and entrusted him with the task of creating the universe.
The form of Lord Brahma
Lord Brahma has four faces, from which all four are considered to be the origin of the Vedas. His four hands hold the Vedas, Kamandala, Akshasutra and Varamudra. His vehicle is the swan, which is considered to be the symbol of knowledge and wisdom. It was Brahma who manifested Goddess Saraswati, who is the goddess of learning and wisdom.
Creation of the universe
Brahma created many sons and sages to expand the universe. Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana and Sanatkumar are considered to be his main sons. Apart from this, sages like Atri, Marichi, Vashishtha, Narada also appeared from Brahmaji. It is believed that the human race originated from Manu and Shatrupa, who were created by Brahmaji.
Worship and Temples of Brahmaji
Despite being the creator of the universe, Lord Brahma is worshipped in very few places. In India, the Brahma temple located in Pushkar Tirtha in Rajasthan is very famous. Apart from this, there are also temples of Brahmaji in places like Barmer, Kumbakonam, Kullu Valley and Goa. Both gods and demons used to worship Brahmaji and receive boons from him.
Importance of Lord Brahma
Lord Brahma is considered to be the symbol of knowledge, creation and intelligence. By worshipping him, a person gains knowledge, wisdom and creative power. The special importance of worshiping Brahmaji has been explained especially on the day of Kartik Purnima and Ugadi.
