In Hinduism, Goddess Kaumari holds a special place among the Sapta Matrikas. She is worshipped as the divine power of Lord Kartikeya. Since Lord Kartikeya is known as “Kumar Kartikeya”, her power is named “Kaumari”. Goddess Kaumari is considered a symbol of valour, victory, courage and war skills.

The origin story of Goddess Kaumari
The Vamana Purana gives an interesting description of the manifestation of the Sapta Matrikas. According to the story, many divine powers appeared to help Goddess Ambika in destroying the terrible demon named Raktabija.
When Raktabija came for war with his huge army of demons, Goddess Ambika made a terrible war cry. With this divine cry, Brahmani appeared from the mouth of the Goddess, after which Goddess Maheshwari appeared from the forehead of Brahmani. From the lion of Goddess Maheshwari, Goddess Kaumari appeared, carrying a peacock, an aruda and a spear.
Devi Kaumari had destroyed the demons with her bravery and divine power on the battlefield. Therefore, she is also known as the goddess of victory and martial power.
Description of Goddess Kaumari
According to the Vishnu Dharmottara Purana, Goddess Kaumari is described as a divine being with six faces and twelve arms. Each of her faces is depicted with three eyes, which symbolizes her all-seeing power.
Devi Kaumari's form is considered similar to Lord Kartikeya. She is depicted riding a peacock, which is a symbol of pride, victory and spiritual power. In some texts, her complexion is described as yellow and her clothes are described as blue.
The goddess holds a spear and other divine weapons in her hands. She wears a crown and a crown and her radiant form inspires courage and confidence in her devotees.
