The origin story of Goddess Indrani
As narrated in Devi Mahatmya, when the demon king Shumbha and his army of demons launched a fierce attack on Goddess Chandika, many divine powers were manifested to protect the gods. From the divine radiance of Lord Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Kartikeya and the king of gods Indra, different matrikas were incarnated.
From the radiance of the king of gods Indra, Goddess Indrani appeared. She reached the battlefield riding on Gajraj and used her divine weapons to destroy the demons. Indrani, accompanied by Goddess Chandika, fought a fierce battle against the demons and gave victory to the gods.
Devi Indrani has a special place among the Sapta Matrikas, as she represents the power of the god Indra and is considered a symbol of royal energy, power and victory.
Description of Goddess Indrani's form
Devi Indrani is depicted in a dark and radiant form. She rides on a Gaj, an elephant, which is a symbol of strength, royal power and pride. She wears red divine clothes, which represent power and energy.
Devi Indrani is depicted in a quadrilateral form. In two of her hands, she holds a vajra and ankush, while in the other two hands, she holds the Abhaya Mudra and Varada Mudra. Her form is considered to provide courage, protection and spiritual strength to the devotees.
