Nrusinh Jayanti

Introduction
Nrusinh Jayanti is a sacred festival celebrated on the Chaturdashi of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Vaishakha. It marks the appearance of Lord Vishnu’s fourth incarnation — Narasimha, who manifested to protect his devotee Prahlad and defeat the tyrant king Hiranyakashipu.

Story of the Avatar
Hiranyakashipu was a powerful demon king who considered himself invincible and denied the supremacy of Lord Vishnu. His son Prahlad was a devoted follower of Vishnu. To save Prahlad and honor his word, Lord Vishnu appeared in the ferocious form of half-man, half-lion — Narasimha — emerging from a pillar and slaying the demon at twilight without violating any boons.

Rituals and Worship
Devotees fast on this day and perform abhishek (ritual bathing) of Lord Narasimha with milk, ghee, and water. Devotional songs, scriptures, and Narasimha Stotra are recited. Temples hold special prayers and night bhajans to celebrate the Lord’s divine protection.

Spiritual Significance
Narasimha symbolizes justice, strength, and protection. Observing this day brings fearlessness, divine blessings, and protection against evil. It also reminds us of the power of faith and devotion.
