Jaya Ekadashi

Introduction
Jaya Ekadashi is a highly revered Ekadashi observed during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of the Hindu month of Magha. It is believed that observing a fast on this day absolves one of sins and grants liberation (moksha).

Mythological Story
According to legend, in Nandanvan (heavenly garden), a celestial being named Malyavan and an apsara named Pushpavati behaved inappropriately during a performance for the gods. As a result, they were cursed to be born as ghosts. However, after observing a fast on Magha Shukla Ekadashi with sincerity, they were freed from the curse. Hence, this Ekadashi came to be known as Jaya Ekadashi.

Significance of the Fast
Fasting on Jaya Ekadashi helps one overcome sins, ghostly afflictions, and even ancestral troubles. It holds special importance for devotees of Lord Vishnu.

Rituals and Observances
Devotees observe a strict fast, worship Lord Vishnu, chant Vishnu Sahasranama, and participate in devotional songs and night-long prayers. Charity and service are also considered very fruitful on this day.

Conclusion
Jaya Ekadashi is a powerful day for spiritual cleansing, devotion, and attaining divine grace. It teaches that sincere penance can even free souls from the worst curses.
