Once Naradaji asked Brahmaji: "O Father! What are the merits of observing the Prabodhini Ekadashi fast? Kindly tell me everything in detail with your grace."
Brahmaji spoke: ‘O son! The thing that is difficult to find in the Trilok, is also found in the Ekadashi vows of the Shukal party of the month of Kartak. Under the influence of this vow, many bad deeds done in the previous birth are destroyed in a moment. O son! The virtue of a human being who faithfully does even a little bit of piety on this day becomes equally unwavering. And her parents go to Vishnu. Even great sins like Brahmahatya are destroyed by waking up at night on the day of Prabodhi's Ekadashi. '
Man should observe Ekadashi fast of Prabodhi of Kartak month for the pleasure of God. Which man vows Ekadashi. He becomes a rich man, a yogi, an ascetic and a conqueror of the senses. Because Ekadashi is very dear to Lord Vishnu. On this Ekadashi day, human beings do charity, penance, home, etc. for the attainment of God. He gets Akshay Punya. ‘So Lord Vishnu should be worshiped ceremoniously.’
On this Ekadashi day, a human being should get up at the Brahma Muhurat and make a Sankalpa. And on the night of worship, one should spend the night near God singing, dancing, narrating. On the Ekadashi day of Prabodhi, one should worship God with flowers, incense etc. Ardhya should be given to God. Its fruits are crores more than pilgrimages and donations.
The one who worships Lord Vishnu with rose petals, Bakul and Ashoka flowers, white and red Karen flowers, Durvakala, Shamipatra, is released from the cycle of advent. Thus worshiping God at night and worshiping Guru after bathing in the morning should be followed by worshiping Guru. And the virtuous character should break his fast by giving dikshina to Brahmins. A person who has given up something in the vow of Chaturmas, should take that thing again from this day. The man who fasts ceremoniously on the Ekadashi day of Prabodhi gets immense happiness, and at the end he goes to heaven.
