Birth and Early Life
He was born on 2 April 1781 in Chhapaiya village, Uttar Pradesh, to Dharmadev and Bhaktimata. Named Ghanshyam in his childhood, he showed signs of extraordinary intelligence, discipline, and devotion from an early age.

As Neelkanth Varni – The Pilgrimage
At the age of 11, Ghanshyam left home to embark on a spiritual journey as Neelkanth Varni. He traveled barefoot for seven years across India, visiting holy sites, meeting sages, and understanding the essence of dharma and devotion.

Foundation of Swaminarayan Sampraday
Upon reaching Gujarat, Bhagwan Swaminarayan established a strong spiritual community. His teachings emphasized morality, detachment, humility, devotion, and non-violence. He initiated reforms and uplifted countless lives.

Celebration of Jayanti
Devotees celebrate this day with fasting, singing bhajans, attending discourses, performing rituals, and engaging in service. Temples conduct special events and cultural programs to inspire spiritual living.
