Early Life and Birth
Shastriji Maharaj was born as Dungar Patel on 31 January 1865 (Vasant Panchami) in the village of Mahelav, Gujarat. From a young age, he displayed deep devotion, intellect, and a thirst for spiritual knowledge.

Initiation and Spiritual Journey
He was initiated into the sadhu order by Bhagatji Maharaj and named Yagnapurushdas Swami. He became a strong advocate of Akshar-Purushottam Darshan, emphasizing the eternal relevance of the guru and God together.

Establishment of BAPS
Due to his strong belief in this doctrine, he faced opposition and eventually established the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS) in 1907, starting with the first mandir in Bochasan.

Contribution to Society and Devotion
Shastriji Maharaj built grand mandirs in Bochasan, Sarangpur, Gondal, Atladra, and Gadhada with murtis of Akshar and Purushottam. His work revived and reinforced devotion, discipline, and scriptural understanding in Hindu society.

Celebrations
On his Jayanti, temples hold satsangs, devotional songs, spiritual speeches, dramas, and service activities, remembering his divine virtues and tireless dedication to the Swaminarayan faith.
