Samvatsari is one of the most sacred festivals in Jainism, celebrated on the last day of Paryushan Parva, primarily by followers of the Shwetambar sect. The term Samvatsari comes from the word Samvatsar, meaning "annual", signifying that this is a yearly occasion for reconciliation and atonement.

During the eight or ten days of Paryushan, Jains focus on intense spiritual practices such as fasting, scriptural study, and self-purification. The final day, Samvatsari, is the culmination of this spiritual journey. It is the day to seek forgiveness for all the wrongdoings committed knowingly or unknowingly over the past year.
On this day, Jains utter the phrase:
“Micchami Dukkadam”, meaning “May my misdeeds be forgiven” — a humble request for forgiveness from all beings.
