Thursday
It's an old thing. Once upon a time, there lived a very powerful and powerful king. He fasted every Thursday and gained virtue by giving alms to the hungry and the poor, but this did not please his queen. She neither fasted, nor donated any money to anyone, and forbade the king to do so.
Once upon a time, the king went to the forest to hunt. There was a queen and a prince in the house. At the same time, Guru Brihaspati came to the king's door in the form of a monk to ask for alms. When the sage asked the queen for alms, she said, 'O sage, I am tired of this charity and virtue. You suggest some solution so that all the money is destroyed and I can live comfortably.
Brihaspati said, 'O goddess, you are very strange, one is unhappy with children and wealth. If you have more money, put it into good works, marry virgins, build schools and gardens, so that both your people will prosper. But the queen was not happy with this. 'I don't need money that I can donate and waste all my time handling.
Then the monk said - If you have such a desire, then you should do as I tell you. On Thursday, you should cover your house with cow dung, wash your hair with yellow clay, take a bath while washing your hair, ask the king to make a haircut, eat meat and wine in the meal, wash your clothes in the washer. Doing seven Thursdays in this way will destroy all your money. Saying this, sage Rupi Brihaspati became introverted.
According to the sage, the queen had only three Thursdays to complete certain things that all her wealth and property were destroyed. The king's family began to yearn for food. Then one day the king said to the queen, 'Queen, stay here, I am going to another country, because everyone knows me here. So I can't do anything. Having said this, the king went abroad. There he would cut wood from the forest and sell it in the city. That's how he lived his life. Here, as soon as the king went abroad, the queen and the maids began to be sad.
'Once when the queen and her maidservant had to go without food for seven days, the queen said to her maidservant,My sister lives in a nearby town.' He's very rich. Go to him and get something, so that you may pass by a little. The maid went to the queen's sister. That day was Thursday and the queen's sister was listening to the story of the Thursday fast at that time. The maid gave her queen's message to the queen's sister, but the queen's elder sister did not reply. When the maid did not get any answer from the queen's sister, she was very sad and angry. The maid came back and told the queen everything. On hearing this, the queen cursed her fate. On the other hand, the queen's sister thought that my sister's maid had come, but I did not speak to her, so she must have been very sad.
After listening to the story and finishing the worship, she came to her sister's house and said - O sister, I was fasting on Thursday. Your maidservant came to my house, but as long as the story goes on, he does not get up or speak, so I did not speak. Tell me why did you go? The Queen said, Sister, what can I hide from you? We didn't have food at home. The queen's eyes filled with tears as she said this. She told her sister in detail how she, along with the maid, had been starving for the past seven days. The sister of the queen said - Look sister, Lord Brihaspati fulfills everyone's wish. Look, maybe you have cereal in your house.
At first, the queen did not believe, but at her sister's insistence, she sent her maid in, and she actually found a pot full of grain. The maid was surprised to see this. The maidservant began to say to the queen - O queen, when we do not get food, we do fast only, so why not ask them the method of fasting and story, so that we can also fast. The queen then asked her sister about the Thursday fast, her sister said, 'In the fast of Thursday, worship Lord Vishnu with gram dal and munakka in banana root and light a lamp, listen to the vrat katha and eat yellow food. Brihaspati is pleased by this. After explaining the vrat and the method of worship, the sister of the queen returned to her house.
When Thursday came after seven days, the queen and the maidservant observed a fast. They went to the hut and brought gram and jaggery. He then worshipped Lord Vishnu and Lord Vishnu. Now both were very sad about where the yellow food came from. Since he had kept a fast, Brihaspati was pleased with him. So he took the form of a simple man and gave two plates of beautiful yellow food to the maid. The maid was pleased to receive the food and then partook of it with the queen.
After that, they began to fast and worship on all Thursdays. By the grace of Lord Brihaspati, wealth came to her again, but the queen again started to be lazy as before. Then the maidservant said - Look, Queen, you used to be lazy like this before, you used to have difficulty in keeping money, because of this all the money was destroyed and now when you have got money by the grace of Lord Brihaspati, you are lazy again.
Explaining to the queen, the maid says that we have found this wealth after great troubles, so we should do charity, feed hungry people, and spend the money on auspicious works, which will increase the fame of your family, attain heaven, and please the pitras. At the behest of the maid, the queen began to spend her money on auspicious works, which led to the spread of her fame throughout the city.
After the Vrat Katha on Thursday, Aarti should be performed with reverence. After this, prasad should be distributed.
