Sankata Chaturthi
Goddess Girija actually worked for Parabrahma Parmeshwar to have a son and for twelve years with rigorous penance, fasting and sadhana, as a result of continuous chanting of ‘Om Gan Ganapatiye Naam:’ Mahamantra, on the fourth day at noon, the golden Kantiyukta Ganesha appeared. Because of this, Brahma has also shown the fourth fast to be the best.
Based on the stories told in different Puranas, the beautiful and radiant Chaturthi with Chaturbhuj and Chaturpad was born from the body of Brahmaji, the creator of the world, from the worship of Varadamurti Lord Sriganesha. Since the left part is Kashna and the southern part is Shukal, both sides are formed.
Dates like Purnima and Amas etc. originated from different parts of Chaturthi mother's body. That is why Chaturthi is called the mother of dates. All the dates including Chaturthi worshiped Lord Ganapati. Due to this, Chaturthi installed Varadamurti in the house and worshiped Varada at noon and on the night of Sankashta Chota, giving the blessing of devotion to Varadamurti along with attainment of Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha.
For those who are fasting, it is suggested to worship Sriganesha before noon in Varda Choth and after completing bath etc. in Sankasht Choth in the evening. Then worship should be done with Vedic and Puranic mantras. It should include flower, rice invocation and asana, foot washing with water, aghrya with water, achaman, pure water, panchamrut, gangajal and re-pure water and bathing with gangajal. Sacrifices and garments, tilak from sandalwood, rice, flower and garland, Durva, vermilion, abir-gulal, turmeric, kanku, fragrant substance, incense, lamp and modak naivaidha, achaman, ritufal, pan and dakshina Worship should be done with a statement of prayer.
When the moon rises on the fourth day, Lord Chandra should also be worshiped with water agharya and incense, lamps, offerings etc. The Mahamantra of ‘Om Gan Ganapatiye Naam:’ should be chanted It is suggested to fast on the fourth day and perform parana on the second day or after the moonrise. The fourth fast and the adoration of Lord Krishna bring devotion, religion, meaning, work and salvation, as well as wealth, wealth, splendor, children, health and longevity.
