“A very pious Brahmin named Sumedha lived in the town of Kampildhaya. His wife was extremely pious and virtuous. The couple was extremely poor because of some sin in the East. The wife of that Brahmin used to serve her husband, and by feeding the guest she used to go hungry herself ”
One day Sumegha said to his wife: “Hey darling! Home life does not work without money, so I have to go abroad and do some business. ”
His wife said: “Hey Prannath! Whatever the husband says is good or bad, the wife should do the same. Man gets the fruit of pre-birth karma. Vindhata does not even avoid avoiding what is written in Bhagya. O Prannath! You don't need anything new. Everything that is in destiny will be found here. ! ”
Obeying his wife's word, the Brahmin did not go abroad. At one time, Kaundinya Muni came there. Seeing them, Sumegha and his wife bowed to Muni and said, 'Today we are blessed. Your vision made our life successful today. ”He gave the asanas and food to the sage.
After the meal, Pativrata spoke: “O sage! You are expected by my luck. I am confident that my poverty will soon be eradicated. You show us the way to end poverty. ”
Hearing this, Kaundinya Muni said: 'All sins, sorrows and poverty etc. are destroyed by the vows of' Parma 'Ekadashi of Adhyak Mas's Kashna Paksha. The human being who performs this vow, becomes rich. This vrat should include night vigil including bhajan-kirtan etc. It was by doing this vow that Kuberji was made rich by Mahadevji. Under the influence of this vow, Satyavadi king Harishchandra got back his son, wife and kingdom. ”
According to Kaundinya Muni, Parma Ekadashi was fasted for five days. As soon as this fast was over, the wife of a Brahmin saw a prince coming to her. Inspired by Brahmaji, the prince gave a village for livelihood and a beautiful house with all things to the Brahmin. Under the influence of the vows of the husband and wife, the Brahmins enjoyed great happiness in this world and finally went to heaven.
Shri Krishna said: “O Partha! A person who fasts on Parama Ekadashi gets the fruits of Kadha Tirthas and Yajnas. ”
